Hudson Beach Yacht Club

HBYC Membership & History Page

Who we are

We are a club of sailors, power boaters, and kayakers and folks who just love our Gulf of Mexico or any body of water we may happen to be on or near.

Our club was established in 1986 and our membership ranges between 60-100 folks.

We have at least 6 sailboat races a year for fun and trophies. Many races have nice trophies. As most sailors do we have post race parties where captains and crew can get together to trade tales and enjoy some time together.

Our Hudson to Hooter's Race - Land' N Sea event is a highlight of the year with a race to Hooters and big after party of wings and grog. This will be our 29th year for the Hudson to Hooters.

We also, plan a number of cruises on our beautiful Gulf Coast. We have gone as far as Key West and as near as Anclote Island. We try and visit fun places and have a good time doing it.

We have a very active Kayak group who plan one trip per month to places like Crystal River, Weeki Wachee River, Rainbow Springs, Hillsborough River and more. We go early in the morning and finish with a lunch. We have one or two trips a year that may be an overnight event.

We participate in community events through several annual programs. Every Year we participate in the National Coastal Clean Up Weekend.

Finally, every Christmas club members donate a generous bounty of gifts and non-perishable food items to a Hudson elementary school for kids in need.  Last year we took a full pickup full of toys and food for the kids.

Due to hurricane damage to our clubhouse, we are currently meeting on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30PM at the  Aripeka Elks Lodge, 9135 Denton Ave. Come early and have dinner in their bar.

Come to one of our meetings and see what we're about, we're a great group of folks. Visitors are always welcome, just check into the sign in desk at the front door.
